Smoky Quartz beads are the grey brown to blackish brown hue of the Quartz species colored by earth's natural radiation of aluminum ions within the gem. Obviously, named for its smoky color - this stone is prized for its transparency. The gem is mined in Brazil, Africa, South Africa, Uruguay, US (Arizona), Canada, India, Madagascar, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Namibia, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
