Prehnite is named after its Dutch discoverer, Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who found the mineral in South Africa. Prehnite beads have body colors of yellow-green, pale yellow, and brown-yellow in a transparent to translucent appearance. Prehnite can have an opalescent quality when in direct light. Prehnite is mined in Australia, China, Scotland, South Africa and the United States.
