Charoite is a rare mineral found only near the Murun Mountains in Russia. The color of our Charoite can range from bright lavender, violet, and purple with streaks of grey, black and white due to the unusual limestone qualities of the Murun Mountains. Charoite derives its name from the Charo River where it was first discovered at the base of the Muruns. Charoite is opaque, has a waxy to vitreous luster, offers unusual purple swirls within the stone, and is a rare one-source gemstone.
